2025 theme Explanation: Constellations

Last week we launched the official 2025 website and opened registration with the $99 Early Bird Special.

This week, we provide an explanation around this year’s theme.

In short, 2025 is year #13 of the All Things Open conference. And although the number 13 is viewed as unlucky in many Western cultures, we’ve chosen a different approach. We choose to view it as “lucky” and full of good fortune – and we’re working hard to make it the best ATO ever. The “luckiest” one of them all, if you will.

The primary graphic this year is our beloved astro surrounded by 13 floating constellations that transform into 13 symbols of good luck from cultures around the globe. Watch the hero graphic closely when you first load the website and you’ll notice each of these constellations quickly transforming into the symbols. Each symbol, along with a brief description, also rotates throughout the bottom banner section of the website as well.

Check out the 13 symbols of luck and good fortune we chose to go with below, and let us know of others, or ones you might have chosen, at [email protected]. We would love to hear about them.

Stay tuned for the unveiling of the official 2025 shirt and poster soon! Each will include a representation of the overall theme in a creative way, guaranteed.
